This Xiom blade was made for Hugo Calderano, a top-level player from Brazil. The SAL, which stands for “Super Arylate”, is a non-carbon material which provides a wooden feeling in a composite blade. The SAL layers are located on the outer plies of the blade's construction, right under the Koto top veneer. The Hugo Calderano SAL does not prove to be an extremely fast or stiff a weapon.
